"Photographer Stephen Wilkes crafts stunning compositions of landscapes as they transition from day to night, exploring the space-time continuum within a two-dimensional still photograph."
Source: "Stephen Wilkes: The passing of time, caught in a single photo; Filmed February 2016 at TED2016".
*excerpts:
"Photography can be described as the recording of a single moment frozen within a fraction of time. Each moment or photograph represents a tangible piece of our memories as time passes. But what if you could capture more than one moment in a photograph? What if a photograph could actually collapse time, compressing the best moments of the day and the night seamlessly into one single image? (...) Day to Night is about all the things, it's like a compilation of all the things I love about the medium of photography. It's about landscape, it's about street photography, it's about color, it's about architecture, perspective, scale -- and, especially, history."
"The act of sharing has suddenly become more important than the experience itself. (Applause)"
"As technology evolves along with photography, photographs will not only communicate a deeper meaning of time and memory, but they will compose a new narrative of untold stories, creating a timeless window into our world." *excerpts. Click to see more on video.
A social poem. "A poem about saying yes | IN-Q | at TEDxHollywood"(*click to watch the video below)
"This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In this opening talk, IN-Q takes the audience on an introductory journey through his own poetic expression combining the old with the new." *
Excerpts from the poem:
"(...)Let's meet up in between, said the the ocean to shore."
" Do you laugh on instinct or do you choose to laugh?
Do you ask because you care or do you merely ask?
I ask you this because I care about how humans act.
We're animals, aware of our future and our past
and this could be an obstacle to travelling our path.
Instead of just accepting where we are at,
we analyze out tracks for what we could've had,
looking back, focused on the memories,
instead of the facts, hance what we attract.
But it's hard the fact that when we're fast,
it really flashes past.
It's an exponential graph from creation into ash.
I'm sentimental one minute, them I'm making plans(...)
Philosophize,
'cause no one has your awesome eyes.
Your view is worth the lows and highs,
as we go through on the coastal rides.
Control has got us holding on, when letting go could be more fun. (...)"

RăspundețiȘtergereVisiting from BLACK AND WHITE WEEKEND.
FRANKLY MY DEAR
Thank you so much!:)
ȘtergereVery attractive black and white, with such a seasonal feel.
RăspundețiȘtergereThank you very much!
ȘtergereLovely series celebrating the seasons. Love the subtle atmosphere of the first photo.
RăspundețiȘtergereThank you so much, Gemma!
Ștergeregreat skies. both blue and dramatic ones :)
RăspundețiȘtergereThank you very much! november has lovely skies :)
ȘtergereThat first picture is so dramatic! Lovely seasonal changes going on in your area... enjoyed all.
RăspundețiȘtergereGladly; thank you so much, Sallie! Indeed, some lovely seasonal changes, and also unusual for this period of time. It looks more like Spring time.
ȘtergereToate fotografiile sunt frumoase, dar prima o consider spectaculoasa. :) Pisicul pare ca priveste spre cer (stiu ca e poza din noiembrie) :) Imi place de el. :)
RăspundețiȘtergereImi place contrastul (sa zic asa) dintre agitatia norilor si crengile desfrunzite si caldura caminului, armonia care se simte in fotografiile "de interior" - imi imaginez o scena idilica, in care pisoiul toarce la gura sobei in timp ce prietenii lui umani se bucura sa fie impreuna. :)
"Fiecare zi e cea mai buna zi din an" - am parafrazat ceea ce scrie undeva in articol. :)
Iti doresc, cu drag, zile fericite! Start bun in decembrie! :)
Hello, great photos!
RăspundețiȘtergereI want to make more spirit to Blogger's Sunday Walk. The last few times I've walked "alone" - therefor I invite all bloggers to join BSW 2017, and hope that many accept the challenge and document what happens four Sundays a year.
Happy Weekend!

ȘtergereDear Alexa - The changing sky with flowing clouds and the halo is so dramatic and atmospheric. I looked in awe at the skies and with smiles at your cat. I also like the B&W photo. There’s no sign of snow in my part of the world, either, though it snowed in northern part of my country. Have happy days ahead.

ȘtergereA beautiful post full of amazing photographs and life affirming sentiments. I particularly enjoyed the excerpt of the Ralph Waldo Emerson poem.
RăspundețiȘtergereSo glad you shared it all with us at Mosaic Monday this week.
Lovely your way of saying: "life affirming sentiments"; regarding the poem excerpts are like a motto, an adage, a very touching way to conclude and define the essence of every one of my photo essays from series "Timeless", if I can say like this.
ȘtergereMany thanks, Maggie, too!
