Timeless (39) From time to time. A stroll under pink cherry blossoms. April in Spring. (I)

Motto:
"I have decided to be happy because it's good for my health."
"Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well." Voltaire

One more time, this Spring came to us, as a promise. A wonderful promise as a  fresh and revigorant vision of those pink cherry blossoms and white prunus blooms, as well, among others seen around the park. A stroll in the evening, with the sound of Blackbirds in the background and the usual noise of the people having a short walk on the alleys or just by sitting on the benches to admire the new vegetation of Spring. I can make a mention and say that walking having a discopathy or sciatica crisis for sure it's not a pleasure. But, I kept walking while I was looking and admiring the beauty of the trees in bloom, just thinking that it's pure enjoyment for soul. Therefore, walking is good for health. Even, with that sharp pain of the back, of the feet discomfort, with the toes having severe numbness, as well, I still feel positive and I'm waiting for recovery. Of course, I have done physiotherapy, kinesiotherapy, too. So, back to these days of Spring, admiring the cherry blossoms along the alleys, admiring the green trees and the golden light at sunset, I feel positive. What can I say? I can only agree with the inspirational and positive quotes that I've found and read them, lately: "No one else is walking in your shoes. Do what is right for you". And for sure, Voltaire was amazingly genius and honestly by saying:" I have decided to be happy because it's good for my health"!
Having a perfect and inspired Springtime in April!
Ps. When I started to write the notes for this post, we had such lovely sunny days, as usually in the early Spring. But this fact, slowly, changed into a 'Springtum'... Since a couple of days, it rains and rains and to me, it looks to be like... Any guess?... chilly autumn rains!! And who knows... till tomorrow, it could turn into and actually become quite a stunning mélange, of which I heard and read about, of Spring and Winter seen as a "Springter"... As they mentioned at the forecast for this weekend, it will be snow around ... So, I'll promise to be back, virtually, with the sunny days of Springtime and some magnolium flowers in the next posts... Just to say so, I feel positive and yet pretty confused somehow... Warm greetings of 'Springtum, Springter' in April! :)

About Earth Day 2017 in media &  the Internet

  • Excerpts from Google Doodles Archive:

"Happy Earth Day 2017!"*

Source of "Color script for the slideshow"  Google Doodle: Earth Day 2017
"Today, we honor the rich, vast Earth that’s sustained generations before us and continues to nurture life and inspire wonder. At an estimated 4.543 billion years of age, the Earth is still the only known object in the Universe known to harbor life. It’s also the densest planet in the Solar System and the largest of the four terrestrial planets. That’s quite an awe-inspiring roster of qualities, if you ask us.

Today’s Doodle follows the story of a fox who dreams about an Earth that’s been polluted and adversely affected by climate change. The fox wakes with a startle, and urgently starts making small lifestyle changes to care for the Earth. Along the way, the fox enlists friends – including Momo the cat, and Google Weather’s favorite frog – to join its quest to protect and nurture the environment.

To combat things like coral bleaching and pollution, the three eco-rangers are inspired to take action such as eating less meat, carpooling, and unplugging unused electronic devices. That’s some heroic work for tiny animals!"

"But the Earth Day celebration doesn’t end there! By clicking beyond the Doodle to Google Search, you’ll find easy Earth Day tips to help you do your part in saving our planet, including supporting critical conservation efforts such as wildlife conservation with World Wildlife Fund, coral reef conservation with The Ocean Agency, and rainforest conservation with The Jane Goodall Institute."

  • Excerpts from Wikipedia:
"Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.
On Earth Day 2016, the landmark Paris Agreement was signed by the United States, China, and some 120 other countries. This signing satisfied a key requirement for the entry into force of the historic draft climate protection treaty adopted by consensus of the 195 nations present at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris." * Click the link above for more info about Earth Day. "The equinoctial Earth Day is celebrated on the March equinox (around March 20) to mark the precise moment of astronomical spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and of astronomical autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. An equinox in astronomy is that point in time (not a whole day) when the Sun is directly above the Earth's equator, occurring around March 20 and September 23 each year. In most cultures, the equinoxes and solstices are considered to start or separate the seasons.
John McConnell first introduced the idea of a global holiday called "Earth Day" at the 1969 UNESCO Conference on the Environment. The first Earth Day proclamation was issued by San Francisco Mayor Joseph Alioto on March 21, 1970. Celebrations were held in various cities, such as San Francisco and in Davis, California with a multi-day street party. UN Secretary-General U Thant supported McConnell's global initiative to celebrate this annual event; and on February 26, 1971, he signed a proclamation to that effect, saying:
May there be only peaceful and cheerful Earth Days to come for our beautiful Spaceship Earth as it continues to spin and circle in frigid space with its warm and fragile cargo of animate life.
United Nations secretary-general Kurt Waldheim observed Earth Day with similar ceremonies on the March equinox in 1972, and the United Nations Earth Day ceremony has continued each year since on the day of the March equinox (the United Nations also works with organizers of the April 22 global event). Margaret Mead added her support for the equinox Earth Day, and in 1978 declared:
"Earth Day is the first holy day which transcends all national borders, yet preserves all geographical integrities, spans mountains and oceans and time belts, and yet brings people all over the world into one resonating accord, is devoted to the preservation of the harmony in nature and yet draws upon the triumphs of technology, the measurement of time, and instantaneous communication through space.
Earth Day draws on astronomical phenomena in a new way – which is also the most ancient way – by using the vernal Equinox, the time when the Sun crosses the equator making the length of night and day equal in all parts of the Earth. To this point in the annual calendar, EARTH DAY attaches no local or divisive set of symbols, no statement of the truth or superiority of one way of life over another. But the selection of the March Equinox makes planetary observance of a shared event possible, and a flag which shows the Earth, as seen from space, appropriate."
At the moment of the equinox, it is traditional to observe Earth Day by ringing the Japanese Peace Bell, which was donated by Japan to the United Nations. Over the years, celebrations have occurred in various places worldwide at the same time as the UN celebration. On March 20, 2008, in addition to the ceremony at the United Nations, ceremonies were held in New Zealand, and bells were sounded in California, Vienna, Paris, Lithuania, Tokyo, and many other locations. The equinox Earth Day at the UN is organized by the Earth Society Foundation."

  • About Google's Earth Day Doodle in Time*

Source of photo: Google.Excerpts: "In a series of illustrations, the Google doodle tells the story of a sleeping fox that has a nightmare about the consequences of climate change, featuring melted icebergs and dead plants. Disturbed, the fox enlists two friends to be more thoughtful about conservation—the trio eat vegetables, grow plants, ride bikes and use solar energy.
Google also offered conservation tips for Earth Day, reminding people to turn off lights, plant trees, eat locally sourced food and avoid driving."

Excerpts from the article "An Optimistic View For Earth Day"
"As we arrive at Earth Day 2017, reporting on Earth science can sometimes feel like a gloomy affair. Global temperatures are at record highs. Arctic sea ice is in pretty bad shape. Bleaching events are taking a toll on coral reefs. And as an interesting article in EOS recently noted, humanity is affecting the very shape of Earth’s surface in unprecedented ways." *

"Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
This new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays.*"

  1. Ooooh!

Multumesc inca o data de gandurile inspirat oferite privind natura, sanatatea, vremea, vremurile si sper ca primavara deja isi intra in rol...:) :) ;) ;) Azi e parca mai frumos ca ieri, si maine sigur va aduce bucurie in sufletele tuturor!
      Salutari cordiale cu drag! <3

Aprilie in continuare insorit si o saptamana grozava! <3

    1. How wonderful you said: "it makes me think of a dream or perhaps a place somewhere in the past." Indeed, the park has a beautiful history and it is a place to visit with a certain nostalgia. I'm always delighted to have, at least, one or two walks, in every year. I'm glad this time I had the chance to photograph Spring and, most of all, the few beautiful cherry and prunus flowers along the alleys, among others. <3 Many thanks for the lovely thoughts shared.
