"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"...

"Literal meaning - the perception of beauty is subjective."

"This saying first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek. It didn't appear in its current form in print until the 19th century, but in the meantime there were various written forms that expressed much the same thought. (...) The person who is widely credited with coining the saying in its current form is Margaret Wolfe Hungerford (née Hamilton), who wrote many books, often under the pseudonym of 'The Duchess'. In Molly Bawn, 1878, there's the line "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

 (1916), by Edith Södergran
"What is beauty? Ask every soul -
beauty is every overflow, every glow, every overfilling and every great poverty;
beauty is to be faithful to the summer and to go naked until the autumn;
beauty is the plumage of the parrot or the sunset that bodes storms;

beauty is a sharp feature and an accent of one’s own: it is I,
beauty is a great loss and a silent funeral procession,
beauty is the fan’s light beat that wakes the breeze of destiny:
beauty is to be as voluptuous as the rose
or to forgive everything because the sun is shining;
beauty is the cross the monk chose or the necklace the lady has from her lover,
beauty is not the thin sauce in which poets serve themselves,
beauty is to wage war and seek happiness,
beauty is to serve higher powers."

"The Waiting Soul"
from vol. "Poems" (1916), by Edith Södergran
"I am alone amidst the trees at the lake’s edge,
I live in friendship with the shore’s old firs
and in secret understanding with all the young rowans.
Alone I lie and wait,
I have seen no one walk by.
Great flowers look down on me from tall stems, bitter creepers climb in my embrace,
I have a single name for everything, and that is love."
  "The Waiting Soul" from vol. "Poems" (1916), by Edith Södergran "I am alone amidst the trees at the lake’s edge, I live in friendship with the shore’s old firs and in secret understanding with all the young rowans. Alone I lie and wait, I have seen no one walk by. Great flowers look down on me from tall stems, bitter creepers climb in my embrace, I have a single name for everything, and that is love."

"Rața este numele atribuit unei varietăți de specii din familia Anatidae. Sunt păsări de apă, mai mici decât rudele lor, lebedele și gâștele și pot fi găsite atât în apa dulce cât și în cea sărată."

 "Duck is the common name for a large number of species in the Anatidae family of birds, which also includes swans and geese. The ducks are divided among several subfamilies in the Anatidae family; they do not represent a monophyletic group (the group of all descendants of a single common ancestral species) but a form taxon, since swans and geese are not considered ducks. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, mostly smaller than the swans and geese, and may be found in both fresh water and sea water."
"The Mallard  or Wild Duck (Anas platyrhynchos) is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical Americas, Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand and Australia. This duck belongs to the subfamily Anatinae of the waterfowl family Anatidae.
The male birds (drakes) have a glossy green head and are grey on wings and belly, while the females have mainly brown-speckled plumage. Mallards live in wetlands, eat water plants and small animals, and are gregarious. This species is the ancestor of most breeds of domestic ducks."

"Pescărușii sunt păsări acvatice care trăiesc pe coasta mărilor, ele făcând parte din familia Laridae, ordinul Charadriiformes. După unii autori aici sunt încadrații și pescărușii răpitori (Stercorariidae), rândunica de mare (Sternidae), forfecarii (Rhynchopidae) ca și pinguinii (Alcidae). Familia Laridae cuprinde 6 genuri cu 55 de specii."
 Gulls or seagulls are seabirds of the family Laridae in the sub-order Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers, and more distantly to the waders. Until the twenty-first century most gulls were placed in the genus Larus, but this arrangement is now known to be polyphyletic, leading to the resurrection of several genera. An older name for gulls is mew, cognate with German "Möwe", Danish "måge", Dutch "meeuw" and French "mouette"; this term can still be found in certain regional dialects.
"The Common Gull (European and Asian subspecies; see below) or Mew Gull (North American subspecies) Larus canus is a medium-sized gull which breeds in northern Asia, northern Europe and northwestern North America. It migrates further south in winter. Its name does not indicate that it is an abundant species, but that during the winter it feeds on common land, short pasture used for grazing."

"Turtles are reptiles of the order Chelonii or Testudines characterised by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs and acting as a shield. (...) Turtles are ectotherms—their internal temperature varies according to the ambient environment, commonly called cold-blooded. However, because of their high metabolic rate, leatherback sea turtles have a body temperature that is noticeably higher than that of the surrounding water..."

"Broasca-țestoasă este o reptilă din ordinul Testudines." (...)

    1. Thank you so much, Michelle! I hope I had a good inspiration... the pictures were made in sunny light of early spring and it's a trying to illustrate the fauna on the lake, as well people's dynamic agitation, that it could be observed on the alleys in cosy days! All the best!

  2. Răspunsuri
    1. Some pretty blossomed trees and a sunny light of early spring on the alleys in the warmest days, indeed, even for a short while! Thank you so much for appreciation!

  3. Lovely scenes and pretty ducks.. I love the beautiful green trees, it has been awhile since I have seen green.. Lovely post, have a happy day. Thanks for linking up to my critter party.

    1. Oh yes, greenery is now almost everywhere, but the rainy season is clearly on the way for a period of time if the forecast is correct. May 1 will be a little cloudy with autumn's temperatures (in some parts, even, still snowing)....but who knows?!... Thanks so much for hosting,too, and all the best, Eileen!

  4. Lovely jacket weather shots. The balloons were fun.

    1. Thank you so much, too, Sallie! I discovered recently this poetess and poems of her in a book called "Scandinavian Spring". I've been so impressed about the charming lyrics, also...

  6. superbe fotografiile tale, se vede clar ca iubesti natura. Evident ai ochi format pentru a descoperi micile frumuseti. Stapânesti arta de a capta gingasia clipelor :)
    In mod special mi-a placut fotografia cu baloanele colorate - excelenta idee! Felicitari!

    1. Multumesc mult pentru observatiile facute! Am incercat, mereu, sa surprind cate putin, in masura in care si tehnic vorbind, aparatul m-a lasat sa captez (asa pe "muchie de secunda" fara prea multe setari legate de vizibilitate, lumina, distanta)... uneori imi iese, alteori imi dau seama ca a fost o chestie de sansa... si tot asa!! In privinta baloanelor... cam asa a fost treaba: am observat rapid, dupa ce ma tot chinuiam sa fotografiez rate, si fiind pe alee in avut doua incercari in timp ce tot inaintam si, evident, in dinamica fiind ma gandeam fie ca iese instantul aiurea ori blurat...) lol..
      Multumesc inca o data si toate cele bune pentru restul saptamanii!

    1. For sure, indeed - we have different notions of senses of this concept... otherwise: would never existed it the philosophy of aesthetics or gnoseology - trying to explain the notions of ugliness or beauty... Thank you kindly so much for thoughts and enjoying the pictures, Bettyl!
